I made a great post last night, but accidentally erased it before saving or posting. Too tired to remember to right click, "undo." lol So here it is (the shittier version):
BEST LIVE ACT: THE ROOTS
I knew they were ok and I liked a few songs, so I was looking foward to seeing them live, but I didn't realize how fucking TALENTED they are. They basically did a 2 hour jam session. Each person had like a 10-20 minute instrument solo, which is normally boring, but it was fucking mind-blowing. They did a few of their songs and even more covers. They did Blue Oyster Cult, Salt 'N Peppa, T.I., Michael Jackson...just everything! The songs they chose were so all over the place. They went 40 minutes over, EVERYONE stayed and it was BY FAR the largest crowd at Vegoose (except for MAYBE Tom Petty). You could TELL that 1/2 the people in the audience who were fucking LOVING it were not people you could clasify as hip-hop fans. I was dancing like a mad woman, even though I was sick. I actually almost left after Fiona Apple in the afternoon, but I'm SOOOOOO glad I stayed! If you EVER have a chance to see them live, DO IT. I def. want to see them again and maybe work with them one day! They were even cool enough to hang out with people after the show, but I was too tired.
THAT is what music is, kids.
As far as everyone yesterday. It was just ok. As I mentioned previously, I was sick. And when I don't feel well/am tired, I tend to be a bit grumpy, anti-social and just flat out rude. Plus, I'm still paranoid around new people. I got there at like 2 and walked over to Guster, but I only saw like 1/2 a song cuz I wanted to be in front for Fiona Apple. So, I walked over and was in like the 2nd row, but on the far right and her piano was on the left (which was ok, cuz her entire set wasn't on piano). She was GOOD, but she is either really artistic and was a bit upset at that point or she was on acid (no exageration). Literally, she was so gone. It was cool, but really unexpected. She would walk away from the mic and continue to sing and she would dance like she was in this trance or start screaming and motioning to like the sky and walking behind the drum kits and stuff. I mean, I could perfom like that, so it's possible that she's wasn't high, but I don't know. It was a pretty good show, but I didn't enjoy it as much as I should've/could've/thought I would/enjoyed yesterday. That's mainly cuz of how I was feeling though.
Let me tell you, when you go to a show or do anything, don't bother having another agenda, for ANY reason, cuz it just takes away from the enjoyment. Sorry if that's cryptic. I can explain in greater detail in a comment, if you would like.
After Fiona, I grabbed some medicore ass pizza and finally met up with my friends. We just walked around and bullshitted. Then we decided to sit down by the sound board to wait for The Roots, so we could watch Ben Folds, cuz he was at the stage next to where The Roots were gonna play and we wanted to see him. I've never really listened to Ben Folds, but I'd heard about him, so I wanted to watch him. He was pretty good, but he dissed The Strokes and that pissed me off. LoL He was also a really angry man (the singer that is), he kept saying fuck and calling everyone bitches and making up all these weird Vegoose lyrics and it was funny, but by the end of their set, it got old. And it just doesn't fit with his voice and his music - Ben Folds isn't allowed to be a hard ass. LoL
Then, we watched The Roots!!!. We hung out in back (by the sound board), cuz it was close enough to the stage and they wanted to smoke without getting caught. I was a little bothered becuase I like to be in front, but I didn't want to stand by myself, cuz it was FREEZING and I wasn't feeling up to it. I ended up being happy about it though, cuz I had plenty room to dance and I could put my purse down and not have TOO many people walking by it. I was super worried about my purse, cuz my dad was like telling me about all the pick-pockets and saying he had a dream that I lost my camera and shit. lmao The only is that if we had been closer, I might've tried to talk to the band (maybe sing for them - HAHA), cuz I wouldn't have had to fight through all the people.
Now I have to get ready for class and I don't wanna go, cuz I still feel shitty. =/
Yesterday's post was way shorter; ya'll lost, too.
I haven't called and asked yet and I'm stupid about these things, but I'm gonna look into doing an absentee ballot and I suggest that you all do the same, cuz I've been reading up/watching stuff on these electronic ballots and there is no way in hell that at least some (if not all) of them are not fixed. =(
